I repeat don't do it, under no circumstances help a friend get a job in the place where you work, I honest to god don't know what I was thinking, me and my big mouth.
Back in June I met up with my friend the same friend from "Break ups suck especially over Facebook" She was in the middle of doing a Fas Computer course and she was telling me she is having difficulty finding work experience (now I am not surprised why......) and I stupidly blurted out, why not try my work, they are always taking on Interns, at the moment there is me and the 2 French girls....
She straight away thought this was a great idea, and even me at the time thought it was a great idea, how cool would it be to work with one of my old good friends? Surprisingly uncool as i later found out.
The very next day she applied and two days later she was invited to an interview. During those two days I mentioned the idea to my mom and my mom told me its a very bad idea... too late. She had got the work experience and was due to start the first week in August.
So from June to August I brushed the whole thing under the table and pretended it hadn't happened. Then the weekend before she was due to start, I started to get very nervous. What was I thinking? Everything she does is going to reflect back on me... Oh god, Oh god. I couldn't talk to my boyfriend or mom about it because I knew they would all say its my own fault.
Her first day went fine, but I knew by day 2 I had made a horrible mistake, Day 2 first thing in the morning she text me, "Hi i know this sounds bad but can you tell the boss I am sick today?" It definitely sounded bad and i decided right then and there i am not getting involved so I text her back and told her to call the boss herself because A were both adults and its not school, and B I absolutely wanted to distance myself from the whole fiasco.
Since day 2 she has proceeded to take sick days, I'd say she's taken more sick days than the whole company worth of people put together.
So there you have it, never ever work with friends. I will bear this in mind when I start my own company one day LOL.

Bonjour!
Yesterday I had a French Dinner party, with my 2 French friends from work, they are both doing an internship like me, Neither of them are the rude coworker I was talking about in the last post, The last thing I would want to do on a Saturday night is to spend time with her, things have improved at work with her but not dramatically she still gets on my nerves every now and again. This week I had a realization about why she ticks me off. Its because she reminds me of my Mom, The way she talks to me is like how my Mom talks to me when she's giving out to me,
Anyway back to the dinner party, We all agreed to make one dish each and bring it, I was in charge of the starter, Laura was in charge of the Main course and Chloe was in charge of the dessert.
For the Starter I made Fish Cakes, with a little (a lot of) assistance from my boyfriend, I think if I was makeing it by myself it would of been store bought garlic bread heated up in the oven lol.
Laura made Burritos for the main course, I had never tried Burritos before, but it turns out they're pretty much the same as fajitas without the cheese and sour cream sauce,
Then for dessert Chloe bought Terramisu, She didn't have time to cook it.. But nevermind.
We were planning to have Tequila puffs at the dinner party, but quickly changed our mind when we found out tequila costs 24.99 Euro :O:O Crazy price, so instead we had wine and Smirnoff Ice and Rum. Lets say I woke up with a bit of a headache this morning lol.
We spent the whole night listening to French Rap, The only French Rapper I had ever heard was La Fouine!!!!! They introduced me to a lot more,
I got home at about 2 and my boyfriend woke me up at 8 this morning ouch, He had to go to work. But all in all it was a good night. :)
Did you all have a good weekend? How much does Tequila normally cost anyway?

How to deal with a rude coworker.
I realize my last post was a little childish so I have decided to remove it, So what if there is someone in work who doesn't like me and enjoys making me uncomfortable. I am an adult I have to get over it and be the bigger person. So bashing her on my blog and making up a rude nickname was just not the way to go. I know that. Yesterday I got home from work and I just had to vent. But now its out of my system and I have decided to turn the negative into a positive.
Here is my How To guide, How to deal with a rude coworker.
Step by Step
1. Firstly be objective, make sure its not you overreacting Be honest with yourself about what's really annoying you and look at it from both of your perspectives. If you do a thorough examination you can judge whether your irritation is due to a difficult person or your own sensitivities. I have been told in the past I am very sensitive. I can cry at the drop of a hat. But in my situation I know for sure this person is being difficult and rude with me on purpose.
2.Once you have established there definitely is a problem, try your best to spend as little time as possible with this person. Whenever you have the opportunity choose to work on projects with other people in the organization, and just stay out of the rude coworkers path when you can. In my work we have an open plan office. So basically 99% of the time I have to be in the same room as her. But even still I try not to engage with her unless I have to..
3. Always remember to remain calm when your coworker is being rude. Drama and high emotions in a workplace never go well together. Keep your tongue in check at all times and always stay graceful. "Always choose composure over emotionalism," Newman says
4. This is a very challenging thing to do and I think it takes a bit of dutch courage, but more often than not, communication is the way to go. You need to talk to your rude coworker face to face. You need to have a conversation regarding your coworkers rudeness and discuss the truth of the matter that her rudeness is making your job, and your life, harder this may be the only solution. But be sure to be positive during this conversation and ask her to give you some suggestions as to how you can help strengthen the relationship rather than just throwing out insults.
5. Stick to your guns when you deal with a rude coworker. Don't try to be boo nice or overly easy going, as this usually leads to you getting walked all over and perhaps even more rudeness from her. Thrust me I found this out the hard way. Don't get me wrong do smile, do be cordial, but definitely do not become a doormat
6. Take a holiday. or if your like me and you can't take a holiday make the most of the time when they go on holiday. If you find the problem has seeped into your home and private life, you need to step away. Taking a holiday is even more important when like me, you are forced to sit in an open plan office and have to work with her all the times I mean I can't even have lunch, make a personal call without her interfering.
7. This is difficult but try to refrain from sharing work place gossip especially when you work in a small office. This person may irritate the crap out of you and many other people in the office, but lunch time bashing is not the way to go. If possible meet outside of work if you really feel the need to discuss this person's rudeness with others.I should practice what I preach in terms of this step.
8. If the problem continues for a prolonged length of time and is a constant distraction to your work, then it is time to take it up with the manager or someone from HR. This will help you document your rude coworkers behaviour.

You just never know
Ironically after I wrote that last post, I realized that Ireland is just not a pregnant friendly place, especially not in the work place. People get so hyped up about racism and equality in the work place. But no one ever thinks about the equality between pregnant and non pregnant women.
I have one friend Cara who's originally from Latvia and she was working for a cosmetic company for almost 2 years. Unfortunately for her it wasn't two months. On Friday she did a product training for some new interns in the company. Then directly after she was given the boot.
What a way to go. You see pregnant women are only entitled to get maternity leave benefit if they have been working for a company for 2 years. In addition you can't claim redundancy either if you haven't been employed for 2 years. So yeah its a real pickle.
Nonetheless, It doesn't leave a nice after taste in your mouth. Its a cruel world we live in right now. As women gain more equality in some sense, we lose it in others. Eventually were going to grow into a nation of all career women with no children. Your damned if you do and your damned if you don't.
So I have put the yes to babies on the long finger obviously lol.

Yes to Having babies lol
Have you ever heard of the Brand Yes To? I heard it was really popular in America, In Ireland it is still fairly new, But I like the idea of it, its all natural and not very expensive.
So far I have just tried the Yes to Blueberries Face wipes. They smell really nice.
I also tried the Yes to Carrots Hand and Elbow Lotion and the Yes to cucumbers day cream.
My Favourite was probably the Yes to cucumbers Day cream, When I put it on I could literally feel my skin tingling. I want to get to try more products.
I heard of their other range Yes to Tomatoes, but I didn't really feel very enticed by it, because I hate tomatoes, the smell of them the look of them everything. So I wouldn't want to buy a product associated with Tomatoes lol. But I am sure its probably just as good as the others.
Yes To Tomatoes Everywhere!
But the thing that really caught my eye in the store the other day was Yes to Baby Carrots! Oh my god!!! It has the cutest images on it. If I have a baby I definitely want to use that. Check out the cute images i just want to squeeze their cheeks.
While creating this post and searching for images I came across a new AMWF Blog

Grab a doughnut or a bagel what the hell?
When I was in UCD, I didn't really eat lunches there, only on the odd occasion because my time table was always just morning or just evening classes so I didn't really have full days, most of the time I would just buy the odd snack here and there like Crisps, Choclate, Sweets and a few toasted wraps here and there.
But when I was in the National College of Ireland, It was in the city centre, and I had so many options for lunch like the Bagel Bar, Subway, Centra, Spar, plus the college's canteen.
Now I'm working the only places around are Centra, A Chipper, and 4 Star pizza. Basically since I started here I have nearly got something from the Centra Delli everyday like wedges, Chicken, Cheese, Onion panini and now I'm bored. Today I had Chipper food and I still felt bored, I didn't want to get a pizza cause I thought it would be weird and plus I'm not mad on pizza.
Now I'm trying to think of things I could bring to work, Once my boyfriend gave me rice, and fried chicken in a lunch box, another time he gave me fried pork and vegetables.
But I think part of the challenge is I'm fussy as you all remember from my foody issues post.
Speaking of food did you know the first Friday of June was The National Doughnut day? Whats your favourite type of doughnut? Mine is absolutely Boston Cream!!! Yum Yum!
