Don't do it!

I repeat don't do it, under no circumstances help a friend get a job in the place where you work, I honest to god don't know what I was thinking, me and my big mouth.

Back in June I met up with my friend the same friend from "Break ups suck especially over Facebook" She was in the middle of doing a Fas Computer course and she was telling me she is having difficulty finding work experience (now I am not surprised why......) and I stupidly blurted out, why not try my work, they are always taking on Interns, at the moment there is me and the 2 French girls....

She straight away thought this was a great idea, and even me at the time thought it was a great idea, how cool would it be to work with one of my old good friends? Surprisingly uncool as i later found out.

The very next day she applied and two days later she was invited to an interview. During those two days I mentioned the idea to my mom and my mom told me its a very bad idea... too late. She had got the work experience and was due to start the first week in August.

So from June to August I brushed the whole thing under the table and pretended it hadn't happened. Then the weekend before she was due to start, I started to get very nervous. What was I thinking? Everything she does is going to reflect back on me... Oh god, Oh god. I couldn't talk to my boyfriend or mom about it because I knew they would all say its my own fault.

Her first day went fine, but I knew by day 2 I had made a horrible mistake, Day 2 first thing in the morning she text me, "Hi i know this sounds bad but can you tell the boss I am sick today?" It definitely sounded bad and i decided right then and there i am not getting involved so I text her back and told her to call the boss herself because A were both adults and its not school, and B I absolutely wanted to distance myself from the whole fiasco.

Since day 2 she has proceeded to take sick days, I'd say she's taken more sick days than the whole company worth of people put together.

So there you have it, never ever work with friends. I will bear this in mind when I start my own company one day LOL.

A male friend

During the past few months away from my blog I did a series of courses, My chinese course, I am now on Level 3, My boyfriend says I am now as good as a senior infants child. basically a kid who is in their second year of primary school.

My French friend from class said my boyfriend has a great way of complementing people lol. But I took it on board as a good thing. Anyway other than that friend the rest of the people in my Chinese class are much older than me.

But asides from that course I also did a CV and interview skills course and that course had more people my own age, including one guy who went to school with one of my old friends and at the beginning of the course I talked about my boyfriend and how I was learning Chinese.

But at the end of the course this guy Johnathon, asked me for my phone number and I was a bit surprised to say the least but didn't see any harm in it. I come against this situation so often, people sometimes men or women asking me for my phone number and i don't particularly want them to have my phone number. What can i do or say? sorry I don't have a mobile, sorry i don't think its appropriate for you to have my phone number? Then I just seem like a big bitch. 

But within a few days he was texting me and asking do I want to meet up blah blah.  out of politeness and thinking theres no harm, I met him in dun laoighraire, and it was going fine, we were having a nce chat, then he started trying to pay for things for me and then alarm bells started ringing and I had to get out of there. Then we ended the meet up with a hand shake which was a bit weird, Then after that day I started avoiding him as if he had the plague.

Then I was at my families house on Friday chatting to my mom and told her about what happened and my mom said Sarah you have to be more careful, A man and a woman can never remain just friends ever. To me this statement seems terribly old fashioned. I mean its the 21st century surely a man and a woman can stay just friends if they want. 

I don't often talk about Africans in my blog but recently I was talking to one of my african male friends. The topic of female friends came up and he said no matter whether a woman is married, single, separated, divorced. If a male and a female are in a house together alone something is going to happen. He personally doesn't allow his girlfriend to have any of his friends numbers, in case there is temptation. In particular African male friends. I really thought this was too extreme.  (By the way we weren't alone lol)

My boyfriend doesn't mind me having his friends numbers because he knows nothing would ever happen with them but he hates other strange men he doesn't know having my number. Its funny how different cultures see things. 

The missing bag?

Last Sunday was Edisons farewell lunch as I mentioned but I didn't really talk much about it. We went to a buffet restaurant in the city centre called Jimmy Chungs and to be honest it generally has a pretty good reputation amongst Irish and Chinese, As buffets go it is usually viewed as one of the better ones.

However the day after the buffet I got sick Nancy got sick and on Friday Michelle told me Edison got sick, so I guess the food wasn't as good as we thought it was... but to be honest I've heard rumours about buffets, they recycle the food, if there are food left over one day they reheat it the next day.

Well at least thats what happened in the buffet restaurant in bray and it quickly got shut down by the Health and Safety Authority, but I guess it must b difficult to prove..

Anyway directly after the buffet lunch we were all fine and I went shopping with Edison to help him pick out some gifts for his friends and family in China, we started with the typical suvenirs shops and then gradually went to other clothes shops like Footlocker, Topman, Lifestyle sports, Champion sports, River island and unfortunately Next.

Whilst shopping he bought one of those small hand luggage suitcases which you pull along and as he bought things he put them in there which was pretty convienent. Anyway "Next" was the last shop we went into before we bought ice creams :) and he bought a lovely grey sweatshirt for 35 euro.one of the most expensive things he bought all day.

Then we bought our ice cream and went upstairs and sat down and at them.

Then we went shopping again and headed for the bus and said our farewells and I got on my bus and he got on his and I thought that would be the last time I would see him again until China. 

Then on Wednesday night at 1.30AM luckily my phone was on silent and I didn't wake up, he text me to tell me he had some bad news he can't find the grey sweatshirt @.@ he'd searched everywhere and nope!

then on Wednesday I met him in the college cantine and told me he still couldn't find it. then we said goodbye again and I said good bye to Jia Qi and went home.

Then on friday I had one last excursion with Michelle we went to see Harry Potter 8 that was my third time seeing it, but i didn't want to tell her i had already seen it... because she was waiting for me to go and see it... we went to see Harry Potter 7 together so its only right that we see the last one together. It kind of set the mood for the good bye the end of an era, end of Harry potter the end of michelle's time in Ireland.

Yesterday was a sad day for me but I knew it was coming all along, I had to say good bye to two of my good friends Edison and Jia Qi they began there journey to fly back to China at 6AM this morning. There both flying in different directions one heading South, One heading North.

But basically it is bye bye Ireland for good. Which is quite sad, but all is not lost, I still have both of them on my QQ and I will be able to keep in touch with them ^^ and I also promised I would visit them in 2012 (If were not all dead lol, you know the end of the world conspiracy? do you believe it?) Especially Edison.

Me and my boyfriend touch wood, Are planning to fly to China for Chinese new year to stay for about 2 or 3 months. This will be my boyfriends first visit back in almost 5 years. So I think it will be an emotional to visit to say the least.

But its quite lucky, Edisons city Shenzhen is very close to my boyfriends city. So no matter what I will definitely get to go there ^^ Jia Qi on the otherhand is from Jilin (similar to my sisters name Gillian hehe) I don't really know anything about that province, so if I want to go there I will have to do some research.

But since me and my boyfriend plan to spend a week in Beijing, I am sure he will be able to fly there to meet me and my friend Jin Ma who lives there)

But anyway these days the list of places I want to visit in China are escalating all the time and I am sure I won't be able to visit all of them in one trip lol. Heres the list (the top ones are the ones I definitely want to visit)

The morning after the babysitting, me, the French student and the Spannish student, had the most horrible lunch imaginable lol. Well I didn't, they did, First off there was no bread left, so I couldn't make sandwiches as planned..

Then the boys suggested I could make some fried eggs, I mean how hard could that be? the gas wouldn't turn on properly, and I couldn't find any oil...

Then I got the gas going and tried substituting cooking oil with olive oil. Oh dear god all the eggs stuck to pan. The eggs looked so unappetizing I just wanted to die. But the two boys ate them, How? I have no clue. After they finished I rushed to try and wash the pan before my uncle came home. I hadn't even finished boiling the kettle and in he came. Kill me now! Kill me now!

He didn't react badly, however it turned out that there was actually frozen bread in the freezer... oops, could of saved myself a lot of embarrassment, Anyway then my Uncle drove me to the train station. The Air festival was on in my town that day, The radio said that there was an 80,000 people crowd expected and to expect huge traffic jams getting into the town, so I thought the train would be the best option.

The train arrived on to the platform absolutely jam packed with people, I opened the door to the first carriage no room, second carriage no room, and so on so eventually I just had to push my way in with my rucksack on my back. I swear it was busier than any train or bus or subway I went on in China.

Anyway I texted my friend Danny when i got on the train, he was also traveling to my town today to see me and the air festival, I don't think I could of picked a worse day for him to come lol. He had to get a bus and then a train to see me.

Luckily we both made it without suffocating, and we headed to the beach and watched the air festival, then headed to Mcdonalds, where he presented me with my gifts,

Then after we went back down to the seafront luckily a lot of the crowds had started to head home and then we went to the carnival and went on a load of different rides.

This was great for me because I had been trying to persuade my boyfriend to go on some of the rides all week, the most I could get him to go on was the Ferris wheel.

But anyway It was a great day :) and its decided a trip to Malaysia is definitely on the cards :)
