Procrastination time

The build up to Tuesday, the stress of having to finish projects nearly killed me, I know I left the finishing off to the last minute and that's what caused all the stress and anxiety, but once I finally submitted them I thought I would feel a huge sense of relief but instead I didn't, Frankly I felt a bit faint and like I wanted to throw up. This could of been because I drank two cans of red bull.

It was just an anti climax, maybe I felt I could of done better if I had more time.... I have a terrible problem with procrastinating these days. When time is almost running out for something I can't concentrate anymore I want to do anything but that.

the day before the project was due to be handed in, I went out to my local 2 euro shops searching for something, anything, I bought 2 packs of sour wine gums (2 for 2 euro) I love sour sweets so it was such a great bargain and find for me because sour sweets are almost impossible to find these days and Cherryade, I thought it would give me motivation.

Then I went to the bookshop to browse, and found a new book that I desperately want, but I resisted the temptation because I knew if I bought that I wouldn't do an ounce of college work til I had finished reading it.  So once my exams are finished I am going to treat myself to it.

Then I came home tried to finish off my project and ended up doing the hoovering

Then having a shower

and then sitting down trying to work on the project.

Then my boyfriend came home and I talked to him for ages and just couldn't find the get up and go to finish off my project. Then the next morning I had to get up early to finish them both off because I knew time was almost up and I had absolutely no choice.

So today I should of started preparing for my exams. I have one exam on the 3rd of May and one on the 7th of May. also I have a presentation on in June for my summer school, its about Japanese and Korean trade unions, employment systems, the state.

I decided to research that instead of study. I don't know why, probably because its more interesting than knuckling down and trying to understand International financial Management which I feel is a lost cause and Global competitive strategies is appealing but I just couldn't get myself started.

I just feel like I am having a mental block, maybe I am distracted, or worried, our application submition date is looming on us, we literally only have one more thing to get and were good to go. (even the one more thing we have to do, i don't want to do, I have to ask the neighbour to sign a letter for us and lately I have had mixed feelings about them, there hot and cold) once we submit the application, we face a 3 month wait and then hey presto we never have to think about it ever again. If it all goes well of course.

I also learned something else this week, I really hate being the stay at home person in a relationship. I don't think I will ever be able to be a full time stay at home mom.

Up until recently my boyfriend has only been working part time. I used to go to college in the morning and find him waiting for me at night when I got home. I got used to that routine and now hes working full time again and now I am the one saying good bye to him in the morning and waiting for him to come home in the evening.  I never realized how hard it was on him. when he sometimes said don't go I will miss you I always brushed it off, he was just being needy.
It sucks. I know its only temporarily until my summer school begins and then I will be in college 9-5 everyday.

Another dilemma has occurred my ex boyfriend has asked to study with me in my new college, because its closer to his home than our old college and I didn't have the heart to say no.  Now I am not sure if I want to study with him and I don't like waiting for a text from him saying hey lets go and study together today.

I don't know what to do. I feel like a burst balloon.

Bits on the side of China

This morning I just read a post about marriage in china on the Speaking of China blog and what it can often consist of Money. Home Car. It reminded me of what happened to my poor friend Wen xue,(Teddy)  I have known this guy for about 2 years now. He is an honest, hard working guy and he is from the same city as my boyfriend. Anyway his mom decided that he was 24 and it was time to start thinking about marriage.

So when he flew back to China at Chinese New year, his mom introduced him to one of her friends daughters they soon clicked and he brought her to Singapore to meet his Dad and that went well.

Then shortly after he had to return to Ireland to finish his education, I think this was the biggest mistake he made, because we all know long distant relationships don't work out well, but they usually work out surprisingly well for Chinese couples, as I mentioned before in the American dream post. I don't know whether couples just turn a blind eye to anything that may or may not happen in the long years of absense or what.

But anyway Teddy had only been back in Ireland for about 2 months when his girlfriend (fiance) rang him and said she had fallen in love with somebody else. This wouldn't of been so bad, only the guy she had fallen in love with was 40 years old. His girlfriend was just 21.

He straight away he booked a flight back to China to try and plead with her. He promised he would never leave China again, he told her how much he loved her, there may have been crying.

But no the girl was not to be won over, this guy dispite his age had money and thats all she could see. It didn't matter how good or honest or hard working Teddy was her mind was made up.

I asked won't she feel ashamed? you introduced her to your parents and everything, What about her parents? surely they will stop her. No they are happy this guy has money. What about the guy, he must be married already? It doesn't matter he has money that's all that counts.

This is not the first time I have heard this sort of story. My boyfriend has 3 friends who own a snooker club Xin Yue Entertainment, and would you believe 2 out of the 3 have long term girlfriends of 7 years and also have a bit on the side. and the bits on the side know about the girlfriends and have in both case met the girlfriends, and the poor girlfriends are oblivious to the whole thing. The guys who own the shop have money and that's all that counts. That's seemingly enough for the bits on the side.
Personally I have always been of the opinion, if a guy cheated on me with a one night stand, I wouldn't want to know. but an arrangement like this is just horrible.

"Just pretend were on a ship"

Today we went back to hating our neighbours and believing that they are anti social lunatics.

These days I am super busy with college work and catching up with all my dramas *^_^* 90210, Gossip Girl, Nikita, Desperate Housewives there all showing new episodes each week.  So I am super happy about that but not so happy that I chose last night to do the catching up....

90210 i am loving the new coupling this season
Ivy and Raj

Naomi and the nerd
Navid and Silver
I went to bed at 2AM last night then my boyfriend woke up at about 7.30 because he couldn't sleep because it was too hot, we have no Air con here. So he got up had a drink a snack then got back into bed at about 8, half an hour later.

Drilling, Banging, Hammering, Sawing you name it began in the apartment directly below us.

What the hell are they doing? When our landlord told us they would be installing a new window we didn't imagine it would mean they were actually going to be cutting out a piece of the wall to create the new space for the window as well.

My boyfriends solution was to "Just pretend were on a ship"

Security Alertt: Bomb in Dublin

Monday was D-day for my big Global competitive strategies presentation. For the last month or so, me and my group have been working our ass off researching Korean conglomerates such as Samsung, LG, Lotte group etc. in particular their presence in the medical sector.  we were trying to find a potential partner for an Irish medic company who sells sleep monitoring equipment, random I know, but seemingly very high tech.

Anyway after hours of practicing our presentation on Sunday afternoon and editing the report, we felt we were as ready as we would ever be, and agreed to meet one final time on Monday at 1pm to do a final run through and then we would do the presentation in front of the teacher during the class, which was between 1.30-3.30.

So on Monday I got up at a normal time and headed to Bray DART station (Train station) at around 11.30. bought my ticket, sat down as normal, train zoomed off. Then we got to the second station and there was an announcement

"This train will terminate in Dun Laoighraire, the buses will accept train tickets"

This didn't phase me too much because I know there are lots of buses going from Dun Laoighraire to Blackrock where my college is. However when we got to the third stop Dalkey, (where my Grandma used to live before she bought the apartment) a quiet little village with not much in it, just some restaurants, a few pubs, cafes, post office, newsagent and a castle.

Another announcement

"This is the last stop, the train is terminating and will go back to Bray, You can use your train tickets on the bus"

I knew I had 2 options one go back to Bray and wait for a bus, but I didn't have my timetable and the Bus only comes every 40 minutes. the other was to stay put and wait for a bus in Dalkey and take my chances. In hindsight I think I should of gone back to Bray.

Anyway a big mass of people (mostly tourists) headed to the bus stop. Despite going to Dalkey so many times to visit my Grandma, I had never once tried to get a bus, and I now know why.

We waited and waited and waited and by 1'oc there was still no sign of a bus. I text all my group mates and told them what had happened and that I would be there as soon as possible... Then I heard one lady with her granddaugter saying they were going to get a taxi to Dun Laoighraire. I was so desperate at this point I didn't care about the cost. I just wanted to get out of there. So I asked could I join them.  so did a polish girl.

No sooner had we arrived at the taxi rank, we saw the bus whizz buy us. SHIT, then we waited what felt like another hour for a taxi to show up.  The taxi cost 2.50 euro each which was actually much cheaper than I expected. By the time I arrived in Dun Laoighraire it was 1.40pm I waited and waited for a bus  and there was no sign I was so close to trying to get another taxi when eventually at 2.10 the bus showed up. I arrived at college at 2.30 during the class break. Then next up was our presentation.

When I got home from college I found out the reason for all the cancellations. Apparently there had been explosives found in Dun Laoighaire which potentially could have gone off. The gardai (police)  army squad all had to come disarm it.

Better late and safe than sorry.
