A Series of unfortunate events

This post is a week late and its kind of referring to last weekend, I just didn't have time to write the post, with all sorts of things going on. @.@ Let me give you a quick catch up, I started Chinese classes almost 4 weeks ago,

Its something I have been planning to do for almost 2 years and a half on and off, the closest I ever got to Chinese classes before this was Rosetta Stone, I have to say despite the benefits of having a real teacher, not a computer or my boyfriend, I have to say Rosetta Stones pace is probably more suited to my pace.

So far what I have learnt is very basic, but you have to start from the bottom, to get to the top. Anyway everything was going oh so smoothly until the day after our "Commitment Anniversary" Michael gave me a Mylo and Friends duck and new slippers, He abandoned the paper theme, but i went all out I gave him eddible money, a bookmark, and a love letter and chocolate money,

Michael cooked me a big meal on the night

Sea food chowder soup for the starter

Mash salmon and fried parsnips for the main course

Banofee pie for the dessert.

It was all yummy! We had a very nice night and felt very romantic we lit candles and drank sparkling rose wine.

But the next day it might as well not of happened, I went up to my house to find out, my sister's boyfriend just broke up with her, and she was seriously heartbroken,

Then I found out that my brother had gone and broken his arm, not from some macho sport like rugby or  football, but from doing a backwards running race with his friends @.@ boys are crazy!!!

Its a mans world

Normally my posts are absolutely PG and that's the way I like it, but today I am sorry anyone younger should probably skip over this post, I am sorry but i think this is going to be a real big rant,

Its the 21st Century, Women should be able to do anything men can do, right? If women want to cut there hair short, wear boys clothes it shouldn't matter to anyone, right? If someone wants to be gay or a lesbian or Bisexual or a drag queen, it shouldn't be a big taboo.

The other day my boyfriend was going to the supermarket and asked did we need anything else? I said tampons, then my boyfriend said oh my god no I can't buy them everyone will stare at me and think i am a weirdo. No they won't or they shouldn't, they will probably assume you are buying them for your girlfriend and everyone will just continue on with their shopping.  In the end i just let it go and said never mind I'll get them myself.

A few days our condoms ran out, and I know everyone will say its the mans job to deal with this task, but hey lets face it, its not the man who needs protection from these things so I really think women have to protect themselves, either through going on the birth control pill or making sure her boyfriend uses condoms.

I don't want to go on the pill because I don't like the idea of taking pills everyday. what if something weird happens? what if i forget, so anyway I dropped a few hints to my boyfriend that maybe he should get some when hes out, then he started saying its so embarrassing everyone's going to think i am so dirty or something, I was convinced nobody would stare or laugh, i thought it was a pretty normal thing to do.

Anyway of course he continued to "forget". so I decided to take matters into my own hand and go to tesco and buy them myself how bad could it be? oh god it was absolutely awful,

First I got to the aisle where they were on. right beside the baby food. @.@ so lots of mothers were walking past there. and there were so many different types but the catch was they were all in security boxes?? that strikes me as odd... why do they need to be in security boxes, that only people at the checkout can unlock.

which meant that it was virtually impossible for me to buy them discreetly. if i went to the self service scanning i would have to call over a member of staff to open it or if i queued at the checkout the guys at the checkout would probably think weirdly of me. so I thought the self service scan system would be best since all the people working on the tills were men...

Bad choice, I had to wait absolutely ages for the polish older lady to come over and open the security tag, and everyone walking past me stared at me wondering why i was waiting there. I never felt so dirty and disgusting in my whole life. Surely sex is normal in the 21st century.

I wish someone could explain to me why buying condoms is such an embarrassing uncomfortable ordeal?

Break up's suck, especially over Facebook

I have joined and abandoned so many social network websites starting with Bebo, Myspace, Friendster and the latest Facebook. I think Facebook is by far the most personal and nosy social network I have ever joined. On Facebook you can find out everything and anything about a person. Which is good and bad.

Recently it's been bad,

One of my good friends has been with her boyfriend for the last 3 years, in the past they used to write on each others walls things like "I love you so much xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" or "I love you, you are the best boyfriend/girlfriend everxxxxxxxxxxxx"

which is quite romantic and maybe a bit over the top and just a bit embarrassing and sickly, but who am I to say, my boyfriend doesn't even have Facebook, He uses the Chinese equivalent RenRen which is incompatible with Facebook itself, So maybe I am just jealous that I don't get this kind of Facebook affection.

But anyway personally I have no problem with any form of PDA. and Facebook PDA is the same as any other type. But PDA in my opinion is just for kids to show off, but as you grow up you realise somethings are better off to share with just the 2 of you and not the whole world.
So in the last couple of months all the I love you's and best boyfriend/girlfriend statuses and wall posts stopped.

In the past 2 months things have changed to Public Display of Hatred (PDH). It started off with "Why are all men so unreliable"  to more recently "knight and shining armor my ass" basically the tone of the statuses have stepped up a notch.

Basically the 2 of them are not in a happy place and need to break up, and posting all these PDH statuses is not going to change reality. The first time I saw the PDH status I rang her imediately to find out what happened she complained and was angry, but then in less than a day everything was back to happy clappy, I met them on the street holding hands.

Then a few days later more PDH, and then more happy clappy times. But this weekend was crunch time. I saw the update "went from being in a relationship to single" which was followed by even more PDH such as "can you die from a heartbreak"

At times like this I am so glad me and my boyfriend don't flaunt our relationship over Facebook. Sometimes its better to keep things private. Sure relationships are important but at the end of the day you need to retain some dignity during the break up.

Anyway everyone handles a break up in their own way. Sometimes you have to vent your anger. I hope my friend will be ok.  If your interested in reading about Facebook queries check out this blog Proper Facebook Etiquette, it's quite amusing

A not so Happy Valentines Day!

To be honest I haven't been terribly blessed on Valentines day and recent years, Although I do remember last years Valentine's day was particularly special as it was the first time a boy ever gave me a bouquet of red roses.... Naturally I was over the moon!

This year I wasn't as lucky on Sunday night before Valentines day me and my boyfriend had an argument so neither of us were in the mood to go Valentines day shopping and buy candies and everything. But he did make me a handmade card which was sweet but unfortunately no candy or flowers or teddies.... Have to wait til next year...

While most couples were off celebrating Valentines day by having a candle lit dinner in an expensive restaurant.... Me and my boyfriend shared a day at the dentist! He had to get one tooth pulled out. He is definitely much braver than me. I hate the dentist, ever since i had to get 2 fillings when i was 12... I never wanted to go back.
After getting the tooth pulled out, we couldn't do anything except go home and rest. So we had a quiet Valentines day at home with a Mcdonalds take away. Would you believe they messed up my order? We only got one medium fries instead of 2! Luckily we live only 5 minutes away so i was able to go back and complain and get more :) But it was still crappy because when I got back my boyfriend was almost finished his.

After my boyfriend got his tooth pulled out the dentist gave us a list of Do's and don't

Do's
  1. Do expect small oozes of blood for 24 hours
  2. Do eat a soft diet, no hot drinks
  3. Do expect a slight swelling for up to 10 days
Don't's
  1. Do not rinse your mouth for 24 hours
  2. Don't eat any spicy food
  3. and the most important Don't
  4. Don't smoke for 10 days!!!

I was so happy about the Don't smoke for 10 days! I have been encouraging my boyfriend to quit smoking almost since the first day I met him. He has had no success... So this is the perfect opportunity for him to quit. The best part about it is it is not me telling him to quit, its the dentist so I am not the bad guy :)
However it was very short lived today when I came home from college, he was smoking, he had reread the letter and it said don't smoke for 24 hours not 10 days I really thought I had found a diamond in the rough.
